Anaheim, CA, June 16, 2010–Nicholas L. Freadreacea becomes the new chairman of the World Floor Covering Association July 1.
Freadreacea, president of The Flooring Gallery in Louisville, Kentucky takes over from Scott Steel of My Flooring America in Webster, Texas, who becomes immediate past chairman.
At the spring Board of Directors meeting, directors also elected Jim Walters, owner of Macco Floor Covering Center, in Green Bay, Wisconsin as chairman-elect; confirmed Paul F. Johnson, president of Interiors One, Inc. in Tulsa, Oklahoma as treasurer and CFO; Janice Clifton, owner of Abbey Carpets Unlimited in Napa, California as secretary; and G. Harold Chapman, president of Bonitz Flooring Group in Greenville, South Carolina and Tom Garvey, president of Garvey’s Carpet, Northumberland, Pennsylvania as vice chairmen.
D. Christopher Davis continues as the WFCA’s president and CEO.
The WFCA elects a third of its Board of Directors each year for three-year terms.
Newly-elected directors include:
• Darren Braunstein, executive vice president, Worldwide Wholesale, Edison, New Jersey
• Duane Cassis, owner, Carpet Plus, Charlottesville, Virginia
• Deb DeGraaf, owner, DeGraaf Interiors, Hudsonville, Michigan
• Mark Weaver, president, Carpet Weavers, Bloomington, Illinois was elected to fill out a one year unexpired vacancy ending June 30, 2011.
Directors also re-elected Bob Weiss, president and CEO of All Tile in Elk Grove, Village, Illinois to a three-year term as an associate director.
Freadreacea has had a 32-year career in floor covering beginning with Kinnaird and Francke in Louisville, where he worked his way up to vice president before the company was sold to The Maxim Group.
Freadreacea joined Maxim as a regional vice president and in 2000 purchased the stores he was formerly supervising in his region.
Freadreacea’s involvement with the WFCA began in 2001 when he was first elected to the board. He has since served on numerous committees and as chairman of the WFCA’s Finance Committee.
